I have been one of the fortunates this past year, not because I’m a centibillionaire who increased his wealth by billions more this year. I am fortunate because there’s no quantifying what I have experienced, though I’ve spent a bit of money (smaller scale) this year. I have found myself in the person, in the blending with the person Diana.
I began the year pretty much convinced that if last ditch efforts to save a relationship I had been in and out of for a number of years ultimately failed that I would end up alone in the home where I was raised. So I spent a lot of time and resources getting it the way I wanted it, particularly the kitchen. I tore out all the cabinets and everything else, including the floor covering and, with the help of some very good carpenters and such was able to put new floor covering in both the living room and kitchen plus remodel the entire kitchen. I enjoy cooking and i designed it to be as perfect as I could for the space I had.
The house has experienced sewage issues since I was a child because a big tree has been growing directly above the sewer line. I was done with that and spent top dollar getting a new lifetime guaranteed line put in. It was amazing to watch the machine demolish the old line as it pushed through the new one that will probably last 1000 years.
Finally, I was planning on putting in a combination greenhouse-root cellar. I spent hours designing it but ended up with a root cellar only. It still needs some finishing touches but it is functional.
Anyway, toward the end of July…. Never mind. I am making a short video and will post it here, a picture equaling 1000 words and such.
Our, Diana’s and my, goal is to live sustainably and to enjoy each other for as long as time and circumstances allow. We are living OUR DREAM.
